Essex Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2026-29) Consultation

Overview

Essex Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2026-29) Consultation

What is this about?

We want everyone in Essex to live healthy, happy lives. To help make that happen, local councils, the NHS and community organisations work together on a plan called the Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This plan sets out what we should focus on to improve health and reduce unfair differences between communities.

Health is not just about doctors and hospitals. Things like jobs, housing, education, transport and the environment all affect how healthy we are. That’s why this strategy looks at the bigger picture.

Why your views matter

We have suggested four main areas to focus on. We want to know if you agree with these, or if you think something else is more important. Your feedback will help shape the final plan.

The four areas we are suggesting:

1. Improving Life Chances for Children and Young People

Keeping happy, safe, and free from the effects of poverty.

2. Helping More People into and Stay in Work

Helping people find jobs, stay employed, and build the skills they need for future opportunities.

3. Building Healthy, Resilient and Connected Communities

Make places healthy, help communities connect, and make support easy to get.

4. Creating Opportunities to Improve Health and Reduce the Impact of Poor Health

Promote healthy lifestyles, including helping older people stay healthy and well, reduce substance misuse and support mental wellbeing.

What we are asking you

For each area, we will ask:

  • Do you agree these are the right priorities?
  • If not, what do you think is more important and why?

We will also ask some general questions about you, like your age and where you live. This helps us understand who is taking part.
