Readiness for Social Care Reform

Overview

In September 2021 the government announced their new plan for Adult Social Care Reform in England.

This included a lifetime cap on the amount anyone in England will need to spend on their personal care, alongside a more generous means-test for local authority financial support.

The reform is expected to be implemented in October 2025, but as a large local authority we would want our market to be able to respond and be ready for the changes that is required of this reform.

As part of our Market Shaping Strategy that we published in April 2023, one of our success measures to deliver this strategy is to support our care market to be prepared and ready for this reform.
