Sawyers Hall Lane Healthy School Street Phase 2 Survey
Overview
What are Healthy School Streets? There is a clear opportunity to improve the street environment around schools, to make streets safer. This could include a number of different measures to make it easier to walk or cycle to school. However, we would really like to hear your views, to shape the next stage of Healthy School Streets to be implemented next year and help us plan for the future.
From engaging with the school local community, last year we:
-
Widened the footway & added pencil bollards to the main school length of SHL permanently
-
Refreshed the zebra crossing
-
Refreshed road lining including double yellow lines
-
Improved 20mph signage
-
Set up park and stride sites
-
Set up active travel reward systems
We understand that these changes were generally positive, however, some issues are still experienced on the street such as crowded pavements, too much traffic, and poor parking behaviours.
We’ve been working with the schools and local communities to prioritise the changes that will have the greatest impact to improve safety around the schools and make it easier to walk, scoot and cycle to and from school.
Nothing has been decided at this stage; however we are really keen to understand your views on how best to take forward the next phase.
