Fraud Survey

Closes 8 Jun 2025

Opened 30 Apr 2025

Overview

This survey is being carried out by Essex’s Multi Agency Approach to Fraud group. The partnership brings together agencies including the Police, local councils and community groups to find ways to protect people from fraud/scams and support victims. There are many different types of fraud – from phishing to pension scams to prize draw scams to door stop traders – and we know that any of us could unfortunately fall victim at some point.

By completing this survey you will be helping us to get a better understanding of people’s experiences and understanding of fraud/scams and direct the work of our partnership going forward. We want to hear from you even if you haven’t been a victim of fraud as it’s important we find out about what people know about different types of scams and how to protect themselves. We appreciate that this survey is a little long but the more we find out about what you know about fraud or have experienced the more we can do to protect people in the future.

At the end of the survey we will be asking some questions about yourself (e.g. your age). This is to help us to understand better who is being victimised and how we can help them, you only have to answer what you feel comfortable with. If you want to complete this survey to tell us about the experiences of someone else because they have been a victim but are unable to fill in this online form (e.g. an elderly relative), please feel free to do so, but make sure you answer the questions at the end as if you were them and not yourself.

Please note that we are only able to accept survey responses from those aged 16 and over.

If you, or someone you know has been a victim of fraud, or you would like to find out more about how to protect yourself from scams you can find out more at www.essex.police.uk/fraud or www.actionfraud.police.uk
