About the Service

The current service focuses on delivering support and care built around navigating the system for people living with and affected by dementia. The approach is shaped around three elements:

  1. Family Navigation –The service aims to give people living with dementia and their families the tools to remain independent, and as part of their community, for as long as possible.
  1. Community programme –This programme works with the communities to ensure that they understand dementia and are equipped to support and be inclusive of people living with and affected by dementia.
  1. Information and Support - providing more co-ordinated access to information and support that enables people to adapt to a life with dementia ensuring individuals and families have the knowledge, confidence and support networks to live independently.

If you would like to answer the questions by telephone instead of online or are part of a community group that would like to contribute, then please get in touch via dementia.team@essex.gov.uk or leave a voicemail message on 03330 138460.

Why your views matter

Why Your Views Matter

We regularly seek views and listen to people to seek views and listen to the voices of people living with, and affected by dementia to inform the services that are commissioned.

We want to talk to you further to make sure the future community dementia support service is as good as it can be and that it reflects our communities needs. We have looked at what we have been told to date and identified some gaps in our understanding that we want to learn more about. Plus, we know that the world in which we live continues to change and want to make sure our future services reflect this.

We want to know about your experiences and are especially keen to learn more about the following areas:

  • Support to those who may experience challenges in accessing support in their communities to live well with dementia. This may be due to location; transport; disabilities etc
  • Support and engagement for minority groups and communities including those from ethnically diverse communities; LGBTQ+ etc
  • Support to understand and manage a good end of life
