A solid understanding of autism combined with practical strategies and resources for all practitioners working directly with autistic pupils in mainstream and specialist schools. This includes teachers, teaching assistants, senior management and any other practitioners.

The requirements for joining these sessions are to ensure you have the following:

  • A Computer/Laptop or iPad with speakers and microphone
  • A quiet area that you can be whilst undertaking the training

Key Stages

This training will:

  • Enable practitioners to develop their knowledge and understanding of good autism practice
  • Provide guidelines and activities to support practitioners to reflect on and improve their own practice
  • Introduce practitioners to using the Schools Autism Competency Framework to evaluate and develop how they work

Event Summary

This ‘Good Autism Practice’ training has been designed to support all practitioners working directly with children on the autism spectrum to develop their practice.  Practitioners will gain practical knowledge and discover tools and techniques to support children with autism. 

At the end of this course you will:

  • understand the key areas of developmental difference experienced by autistic pupils
  • understand the individual pupil and how to profile their strengths and developmental needs
  • understand the importance of building positive relationships with and around the pupil
  • understand how to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual pupil
  • understand how to make the environment more accessible to autistic pupils
  • develop practical strategies and techniques in promoting effective teaching and learning
