Overview
My Time Activity Camp was set up at the beginning of 2017. With a view to give young people in care a choice in respite and the chance to make life long memories with peers from similar backgrounds. We have completed over 10 camps and our feedback from young people is 5star
We run a few residentials a year which are open to young people who looked after by Essex Social Care.
Young people have to be aged between 12 - 14
Because of the popularity of the camps, we draw a ballot of young peoples names. we have found is this the most fair way of allocating young people a place.
This years dates are;
10th 11th 12th - June - place draw date 27th May
9th 10th 11th December - place draw date 25th November
Our aims for the Activity Camp are for
Young people to have fun,
To create an safe enviroment where young people do not feel different because of their care status.
To help young people push their comfort zone
To provide life long memories.
FAQ
Who gets a place.
Because we are always over subscribed for our camps, names are pulled out of a hat 2 weeks before the camp. We hope that this makes it as fair as possibel.
Who are the staff.
We have a very experience team that have expertise in group dynamics and the care system. We use qualified Instructors when needed and have a stringent risk assessment process that makes sure everyone is safe.
What are the sleeping arrangements
The young people will be in a cabin with bunk beds, there will be a staff member within the cabin, however will be in a separate room.
How Much does this cost?
There is no charge for young people attending the Activity Camp.
Were is the camp based?
We use Danbury Outdoors, We have worked with Danbury for many years and this works well to meet our groups needs.
Will they need any money?
No they do not, everything you need will be provided, from snacks to activities. Some young people do like to bring their own snacks and this is fine.
Can i bring my phone?
We have a policy that says no phones. This is to enable young people to bond as a group with no outside interference, You are more then welcome to call them via a staff phone number and they can do the same.
What will i be doing?
We have a very full programme, which means you will be busy all day everyday. We will also include something very special within your time with us, these are activities that you may only do once or twice in your lifetime. We ask you to give everything a shot, its not about completing everything, its just about challenging yourself,
Once the booking if completed the young person will go onto a list. We have limited numbers for the camp so young peoples names will be drawn out of a hat 2 weeks before the camps start date. For more information please contact
