Child Abuse Linked to Faith and Beliefs

Target audience: This course is aimed at people who are working directly with children and young people, and their managers.

Aim: To equip professionals with the knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to cases of child abuse linked to faith and belief.

 Learning outcomes:

  • To understand the various elements of abuse linked to faith or belief
  • Identify factors within various faith and belief systems that may make some of these harmful to children and adults
  • To be able to identify risk factors of child abuse linked to faith or belief
  • Gain greater confidence to recognise and support those at risk of abuse linked to faith and belief
  • Consider different ways to assess the religious/spiritual beliefs of families
  • Learning from Serious Case Reviews


There are reduced rate places per course for those organisations who are members of Essex Council for Voluntary Youth Services (ECVYS). Please indicate if you are a member of ECYVS in question 5.

The course will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Tea and coffee will be provided but you will need to provide your own lunch.

The venue will be advised when your place has been confirmed.
